Editorial of the Day: Neon's Back

Photos: Eve by Max Abadian for Flare
Tupac's not the only thing that's back. (How creepy-yet-awesome was that Coachella performance, by the way?) Neons are back and I've been insanely excited since I saw a story on them in Glamour earlier this year. Flare had an interesting spin on the trend, not totally committing to it in clothes, but definitely going the full mile on the hair.

I'd sell my entire closet for the neon green dress. Well, not really, but I'd trade in a few designer bags. It's one of those pieces that takes a used idea and turns it into something new.

Color Story: By The Sea

Photo

I miss living by the water. You don't get beautiful sunsets like this when your view is always hindered by trees. And swamps. Oh, to be landlocked.

My favorite thing about sunsets is that they're never the same in every place you go. I once heard from a kid I knew in high school that sunsets in the Philippines have less color because their air isn't as polluted from factories. I'm not sure how true that is, but I do know the sunsets in Australia look like the sky is on fire. A former professor once showed us a photo he took while on vacation there.

Color Story: Hills of Light

Photo
Before seeing the cartoon movie Rio, I never really thought about how intricate and deep a neighborhood could be if it was built into a hillside. I love the idea that this calm photo is hiding the hectic every day life of people who live, work and raise families on this hill. Maybe the next time I go overseas, I'll head for South America? I don't know if that's where this is, but I do know that's where I'd like to be.
